Meet Our Team
Juan J. Medina Jr. Owner/Trainer/ Manager
Juan J. Medina Jr. is a San Diego native who took boxing lessons at the age of 16 for self defense at the Irish Spud Murphy’s boxing gym in downtown San Diego back in 1990-1992. Throughout the years he trained to keep in shape and not forget the fundamentals that were once learned. For 6 years he had been a boxing trainer/instructor with the legendary Gutierrez Boxing Club of South San Diego. He now trains amateur national champions and manages upcoming professional boxers.
Matthew Knight Boxer/Trainer
Matthew Knight is a San Diego native who has been boxing and training competitively at Bound Boxing Academy. Throughout the years he has been certified to train/coach in strength & conditioning and boxing. Matthew trains all levels of boxers and he is also a member of the USA Boxing Association. Matthew competes as an amateur boxer who plans on boxing professionally. Matthew competes at 141 lbs and is in the elite open division of amateur boxing and is ready to debut as a professional boxer.
David Gutierrez Attorney/Trainer
David Gutierrez is considered one of the top boxers to ever come out of San Diego. As an amateur, he won several regional, state and national titles, including the 1981 National Junior Olympics. He reached the finals of the United States Olympic Trials, and came very close to upsetting eventual Trials winner and 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Breland. He now trains and manages upcoming boxers at the Bound Boxing Academy. Gutierrez is also an Attorney at Law.
